Awakening Earth Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Awakening Earth handles personal information when you use our website, Awakening Earth Radio app, podcasts, community and chat features, and associated services.
1. Who we are
Awakening Earth is an independent project based in Glastonbury, England.
Website: awakeningearth.life
Privacy enquiries: [email protected]
Awakening Earth is responsible for personal data processed for services it operates. Where independent services are involved, their own privacy notices may also apply.
2. Information we collect
Website visits and radio listening
When you visit the website or connect to a radio stream, our servers and infrastructure may process technical information such as your IP address, browser or device type, connection times, requested pages or streams, and diagnostic or security logs.
We use this information to deliver content, maintain reliable services, troubleshoot faults and protect our systems.
Accounts and community features
If you register for chat or other account-based features, the information processed may include your username, email address, account identifiers, authentication information and profile details.
Where community features are available, we process the messages, photographs, audio recordings, uploaded files and other content you choose to submit. Technical information associated with messaging or calls may also be processed when those features are used.
Some community messages and profile information may be visible to other participants, depending on the room and privacy settings. Other participants may retain copies of content they receive.
Newsletters and communications
If you subscribe to updates, we process your email address, subscription preferences and records of your signup or confirmation. Our email service provider, Brevo, may process information necessary to manage subscriptions, deliver messages and provide delivery or engagement reports.
You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us.
If you contact us by email or through a form, we use the information you provide to respond to your enquiry and manage the correspondence.
Notifications
The radio app can offer optional local reminders for scheduled programmes. Reminder preferences and schedules may be stored on your device.
Our website may also offer optional browser push notifications through Brevo/WonderPush. If you subscribe, notification-related identifiers and technical information may be processed to provide that service. You can manage notification permissions through your browser or device settings.
App settings and optional features
The radio app may store preferences, cached content and messaging information locally on your device. This may include playback settings, favourite content, reminder preferences and locally cached chat data.
If you use optional account-linked or premium features, authentication tokens and account entitlement information may be processed to provide access.
3. Why we use information
We process personal data for the following purposes and legal bases, as applicable:
- Providing requested services: delivering radio, website content, registered accounts and interactive features. The legal basis may be performance of a contract or our legitimate interests in providing services requested by visitors.
- Security and administration: protecting accounts and infrastructure, preventing misuse, investigating faults and moderating community services. We rely on legitimate interests in maintaining safe and reliable services, or legal obligations where applicable.
- Optional newsletters and marketing: sending communications you have chosen to receive, on the basis of consent where required.
- Optional browser notifications: providing notifications after you choose to enable them, using consent and applicable browser permission controls.
- Support and enquiries: responding to your requests, on the basis of legitimate interests or steps connected with providing a service.
- Compliance: meeting applicable legal and regulatory obligations.
You do not have to subscribe to newsletters or browser notifications to listen to Awakening Earth Radio.
4. Who receives information
Depending on the features you use, information may be processed by:
- Hosting and infrastructure providers supporting Awakening Earth’s WordPress website, radio streaming and other self-hosted services.
- Matrix messaging infrastructure and, where applicable, other messaging participants or federated services involved in delivering communications.
- Brevo for optional email subscriptions and WonderPush-related browser notification functionality.
- Microsoft 365 for email correspondence and support requests.
- Other third-party services that you choose to open or interact with, such as externally embedded media or linked websites.
We do not authorise the sale of personal information submitted to Awakening Earth. Publicly shared community content may, however, be viewed or copied by others.
5. Chat, recordings and privacy
Chat and community features use account-based messaging technology. Information may be held on the messaging server, on your device or on recipients’ devices, depending on the feature.
Encryption and visibility can vary between rooms, messages and calls. You should not assume that every message, file or call is end-to-end encrypted or inaccessible to other authorised participants.
Do not share sensitive personal information in public rooms. Only upload photographs, recordings or other material that you have permission to share.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
The website may use cookies or browser storage for essential features, login sessions, preferences and security. Embedded content and optional services may use their own technologies.
You can manage cookies and website permissions using your browser settings. Where the law requires consent for non-essential technologies, these should not be activated without the appropriate choice.
7. International processing
Although Awakening Earth is based in the United Kingdom, external providers, messaging participants and network infrastructure may process or receive information in other countries.
Data-transfer arrangements and applicable protections depend on the service involved. Contact us for information about a particular provider or transfer affecting your data.
8. How long information is kept
We keep personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose, taking account of legal obligations, account activity, security requirements and deletion requests.
- Account information is generally needed while an account remains active and while legitimate related obligations remain.
- Community messages and uploaded content may remain in room history until removed under applicable moderation, retention or deletion procedures.
- Newsletter records are retained as needed to manage subscriptions, consent, unsubscribe requests and relevant obligations.
- Technical and security records are retained according to operational and security needs, rather than indefinitely by default.
- Local app preferences and cached information may remain on your device until cleared, overwritten or removed with the app.
- Copies in system backups may remain temporarily until their normal backup lifecycle ends.
Legal exceptions, security requirements and information already held independently by other recipients may affect what can be deleted immediately.
9. Security
We use access controls, secure connections where supported, system maintenance and other appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect our services.
No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Please protect your account credentials and report suspected misuse.
10. Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may have the right to:
- Access personal information held about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate information.
- Request erasure of personal information.
- Request restriction of processing.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests, including direct marketing.
- Request data portability where applicable.
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing relies on consent.
To exercise these rights, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
11. Account and data deletion
If you use an Awakening Earth account, you can request deletion of your account and associated personal data, subject to applicable legal exceptions.
For instructions, visit our Account Deletion page. The request process is available without needing to reinstall the app.
12. Children and community safety
Our community features require particular care when personal information, photographs and communications involving children are concerned. If you believe a child has provided personal data inappropriately, please contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services, providers or legal requirements change. The latest version and its update date will appear on this page.
14. Contact and related policies
For privacy questions or concerns, email [email protected].
